Keynote Speech: Localized C&I Energy Storage – Decoding the South African Market
During the event, TWS Technology ESS delivered a keynote speech titled “Localized Commercial and Industrial Energy Storage: Decoding the South African Market,” which became a focal point of the exhibition. South Africa’s aging grid infrastructure, unstable power supply, and frequent load-shedding policies have disrupted business operations. Additionally, surging electricity prices have increased operational costs for enterprises, accelerating the adoption of energy storage systems among commercial and industrial users.

To address these challenges, TWS Technology presented a comprehensive and localized C&I storage solution. Its latest offerings showcased at the event included the ProeM and Max series liquid-cooled storage cabinets, as well as the PowerCore 5MWh liquid-cooled storage container. These solutions offer four key advantages: high efficiency and flexibility, safety and reliability, easy installation, and intelligent user-friendliness. They are well-suited to South Africa’s climate, grid characteristics, and real-world business needs—and have already been successfully deployed locally.
In the Mossel Bay 1725kW/2236kWh project, the region's marine climate, with consistent rainfall and strong ocean winds, placed high demands on the thermal stability, lifecycle, and safety of the storage systems. TWS Technology ESS addressed these by equipping the site with its ProeM liquid-cooled cabinet, utilizing advanced liquid-cooling technology. The high-conductivity coolant, either directly or indirectly contacting the battery, ensures efficient heat dissipation and keeps the battery at an optimal operating temperature, thereby extending battery life and boosting storage performance. The cabinet is rated IP54, has undergone rigorous rain and extreme temperature testing, and complies with international certifications, including UL9540A, IEC62619, and IEC63056, ensuring stable operation in challenging local conditions.
In the Oudtshoorn 3000kW/3727kWh project, TWS Technology partnered with local companies to launch an innovative green eco-model that combines “distributed solar + modern farming.” The customized storage system features black start and on/off-grid switching capabilities, allowing it to respond quickly during power outages or failures to ensure continuous operation. By coordinating solar-storage integration and peak-shaving discharge strategies, the system enhances power stability, increases economic returns for enterprises, and helps reduce carbon emissions. This promotes the local consumption of renewable energy and supports the shift of modern agriculture toward a green and low-carbon future, realizing sustainable development goals.
Deepening Presence in South Africa: Building a Strong Distributor Network
To strengthen its footprint in South Africa, TWS Technology is actively developing a localized distributor network. The company has established deep collaborative relationships with its existing partners. By building a local system for marketing, warehousing, logistics, and technical support, TWS Technology is able to better understand regional demands, respond quickly to customized customer needs, shorten delivery cycles, and provide prompt and efficient after-sales service.
